Norway bound!

On June 22, 2017, WE will head to Norway.  

• Who is "WE"?  

Julie Maristuen-Rodakowski, Harold Rodakowski, Randall Rodakowski and his spouse Olive Isaacs, Juleen Rodakowski and her spouse Joe D. Moore.

• Why are WE going?  

It will be a family heritage trip back to the homeland of the Maristuens who left Norway in 1870 and eventually settled in Leeds, ND., the childhood home of Julie.

• Is this the first time you've been there?  

Julie visited Norway in 1972, but none of the other family members have been there.

• Will you visit relatives and see other relevant family locations?  

Yes, we plan to visit Maristuens in at least two locations around Laerdal, and we will definitely visit other relevant family locations too.

• Will you also visit other places in Norway?  

Definitely, yes!  We will spend time in Oslo and in Bergen, will see some of the fjords, and will travel on a train from Oslo to Bergen.

Thursday, June 22 – fly to Norway

Friday, June 23 – get our bearings in Oslo

Saturday, June 24 – sightsee in Oslo

Sunday, June 25 – take train to Bergen, rent car, and head to Maristuen Hotel

Monday, June 26 – stay at Maristuen Hotel and wander around this area of Norway

Tuesday, June 27 – stay at Maristuen Hotel, but also visit relatives in Steinklepp and go to Borgund Stave Church

Wednesday, June 28 – stay at Bergen and see the sights of the city

Thursday, June 29 – see more sights around Bergen

Friday, June 30 –

•                Juleen/Joe fly to US
•                Randall/Olive fly to Italy
•                Julie/Harold hang out in Bergen before going on 7-day “Land of the Midnight Sun” Hurtigruten cruise from Bergen, leaving July 1, ending up in Kirkenes, Norway.
